My first summer on Lake Dunmore, after I had unpacked my gear, I went into town to visit the Vermont Book Store. In addition to a book, I purchased a copy of the local newspaper (a weekly called the Addison County Independent). Back at the lake, I sat in an Adirondak chair by the dock with my book, a cup of tea, and the newspaper. The featured story on the front page was about a woman's prize Jersey cow which had just given birth to a calf, perpetuating the hope for future glory. That newspaper story has been a symbol of quiet, peaceful summers -- summers with dinners at The Dog Team restaurant, visits to Bread Loaf and Robert Frost's cabin, canoes, sail boats, and paper birches. While the cows on your Middlebury tie are not Jerseys, they still remind me of the slow pace of summers in Addison County. Thank you! Of the 90 plus Beau Ties of Vermont bows in my closet, this one is my new favorite.
Grew up in dairy country but now live in suburbia. Love the bright color of the red and the reminder of where I grew up.
