There is no rule as to how often masks have to be washed. However, experts say if you're wearing them for short periods, wash them with a watered-down bleach solution or soap and water weekly, at minimum. Cloth masks are washed with other laundry. If you’re putting them on for extended periods, such as grocery-store employees, then clean them every day.
Never share masks, even with your loved ones. On the other hand, paper masks, like surgical masks, are disposable and will get replaced regularly. Damaged masks must be discarded. If you are feeling as if the mask is causing you difficulty in breathing, don’t wear it.
